On 21 and 22 May, the General Assembly of the European project HVDC4ISLANDS took place at the facilities of the Austrian Institute of Technology (AIT), bringing together the nine consortium partners to review the project’s progress and coordinate upcoming activities for the second year of implementation.
The meeting was attended by the research partners IMDEA Energy —project coordinator—, AIT, SINTEF Energy, RWTH, ICCS-NTUA and Marei, together with the industrial partners Fronius, Subsea7 and Hystar.
During the working sessions, participants discussed several key technical aspects related to the development of future energy islands, including the optimal sizing of multi-vector energy systems, converter control, grid stability and protection, algorithm validation, and the integration of energy islands into electricity markets.
In addition to reviewing the status of the different work packages and preparing the deliverables scheduled for the project’s second year, the partners also discussed future joint actions focused on scientific dissemination and industrial collaboration.
The HVDC4ISLANDS project continues to advance the development of innovative HVDC-based solutions aimed at enabling the efficient and sustainable integration of island energy systems.
